We take particular pride in our educators who have graduated from the blessed city of the Messenger, peace be upon him. Their firsthand experience in this sacred environment enriches their teachings and offers students a profound connection to both heritage and scholarship. Our Instructors
1. Sheikh Omer Khurshid
Sheikh Omer Khurshid was raised in Toronto, Canada, where he began his spiritual journey by memorizing the Quran at the tender age of nine. This early commitment to the sacred text laid the foundation for his later academic pursuits. Motivated by a desire to deepen his knowledge, he enrolled in the ‘Ālimiyyah program at Jame Abu Bakr Siddique in Toronto, Canada. There, he engaged in a comprehensive study of Islamic sciences. Upon completing the ‘Ālimiyyah program, the Sheikh embarked on a journey to Madinah, where he dedicated himself to the profound study of ‘Ulūm al-ḥadīth at the esteemed Islamic University of Madinah. There, he earned a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Ḥadīth, immersing himself in the intricacies of this vital discipline.
Academic Journey
During his time in Madinah, the Sheikh had the unique privilege of studying under the guidance of the Shāfiee Muḥaqqiq, Sheikh Safwān Dāwoodī. He also undertook extensive studies of the primary texts of Ḥadīth multiple times under the guidance of esteemed scholars, including Sheikh Hāmid Al-Bukhārī and others.
Comprehensive Study
The Sheikh’s academic journey encompasses a thorough examination of the texts from all four schools of thought, engaging deeply with their respective scholars. He has also explored both methodologies in Uṣūl al-fiqh—Ṭarīqah al-fuqahāʾ and Ṭarīqah al-mutakallimīn—and delved into various branches of Uṣūl al-dīn. This diverse and comprehensive background reflects his commitment to understanding the rich tapestry of Islamic jurisprudence and theology
Teaching Experience
For the past several years, the Sheikh has dedicated himself to teaching these vital sciences, sharing his knowledge and insights with students eager to learn. His teaching not only imparts academic knowledge but also inspires a love for the pursuit of knowledge and a deeper understanding of the Islamic faith. Through his extensive studies and teaching, the Sheikh continues to contribute significantly to the scholarship of Islamic sciences, nurturing the next generation of learners and scholars in the process.
2. Mufti Mohammad Daud Khurshid
Mufti Mohammad Daud Khurshid began his Islamic journey at a young age, completing his memorization of the Qur'an (Hifz) at Jamiah Islamiyah Abu Bakr in Scarborough. He continued his studies at the same institution, earning his prestigious Alimiyyah degree upon completing a 6-year course, where he delved deeply into the Arabic language (Nahw, Sarf, and Balaghah), Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh), Qur’anic exegesis (Tafsir), and the books of Hadith, amongst other Islamic sciences.
Alongside his Alimiyyah studies, Mufti Daud Khurshid also obtained authorization (Ijazah) in the Ten Recitations (Qira'at) from the path of al-Shatibiyyah and al-Durrah. He then specialized in Islamic law, completing a two year rigorous Ifta course from Jamiah Qasimul Uloom in Scarborough. His pursuit of knowledge also led him to the Malaysian based International Center for Education in Islamic Finance, where he is currently enrolled in an online master's degree.
After teaching for some time, by the grace of Allah (SWT), Mufti Daud Khurshid was accepted at the renowned Madinah University, and is currently studying in the Faculty of Shari'ah. There, he continues to expand his knowledge under the guidance of renowned scholars, including Shaykh Safwan Dawoodi, while contributing his expertise to the community as an instructor, writer, and mentor.
